Coal and energy

Abrasive wear in coal and energy power stations mostly comes from sand and iron ore that contaminates the fuel. Efficient maintenance and the right selection of wear parts will save money on mill liners, primary and secondary crusher liners, transfer chutes, hoppers and silos, grinding mills and classifiers, screens and underpans, cyclones and separators, fan blades and casings, feeders and conveyors.

Hardox Wearparts centers specialize in custom-made wear parts of the quenched and tempered steel grades Hardox® wear plate and Toolox® engineering & tool steel. Duroxite® overlay products are also available for situations with severe sliding wear from hard materials.

There are many cases where Hardox® wear plate does make a difference. For example, by using lignite coal hammers made from Hardox® 600 compared to the original forged hammers has made it possible to save costs by tripling the service life. Another successful Hardox® upgrade is a case with a coal power cyclone originally made from mild S235 steel. The service life increased from 6 to 15 months.
